Popular Christian singer celebrates Alabama’s cheerleading national championship

Count Steven Curtis Chapman among the Alabama fans celebrating the Crimson Tide’s cheerleading national championship.

The Tide took the Universal Cheerleader Association’s College Championships on Sunday, and the popular Christian singer, who has a daughter on the team, posted on social media about the national championship.

“A very long awaited dream came true tonight for our sweet girl Stevey Joy Chapman!” he posted. “She and her coed cheer teammates accomplished something amazing and won 1st place in National Cheer Championship competition!

“Couldn’t be more proud of her … her heart, her kindness, her work ethic, her love for her team, her family & Jesus!”

The Tide beat out second-place finisher South Florida and third-place Kentucky for the coveted national title. The national championship marks the first for Alabama since 2015. The Tide also won titles in 2011 and 1984.
