Saban reveals one of most dominating players he faced while at Alabama

Nick Saban said he has been trying to tell people since the last NFL Draft that Jayden Daniels is just that good.

The former Alabama coach told “The Pat McAfee Show” on Monday that Daniels was one of the better players he faced while in Tuscaloosa.

“Since Joe Burrow, this was the most dominating player we played against at Alabama for four or five years,” Saban said. “All these pro people call and ask your opinion you played against. I said this guy’s the best player we played against for five years.”

In the two meetings against Alabama, Daniels accounted for six touchdowns.

Daniels threw for 219 yards and two scores in the 42-28 loss in 2023, while rushing for 163 yards and another score. In 2022, he threw for 182 yards and two scores, then rushed for 95 yards and one more touchdown in a 32-31 overtime win.

“I think this guy is a great passer,” Saban explained. “He’s fast as hell. He can scramble and run and make plays. He’s smart. He makes good decisions.

“I don’t see how you can go wrong with this guy.”

Daniels, in his rookie season, has led the Washington Commanders to the NFC title game for the first time in 33 years after they defeated the Detroit Lions 45-31 over the weekend.
