Eagles elevate pair of Alabama prep products for Sunday’s playoff game

Linebacker Nicholas Morrow joined the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad on Tuesday. After being elevated to active status on Saturday, the Huntsville High School alumnus is eligible to play in Sunday’s playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams.

This is not as much of a stretch as it might seem: Morrow started a playoff game for the Eagles last season.

Philadelphia signed Morrow for its practice squad after losing linebacker Nakobe Dean to a knee injury during Sunday’s 22-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the NFC playoffs.

In 2023, Morrow started 12 regular-season games and one playoff contest for Philadelphia.

Morrow signed as an NFL free agent with Buffalo in March, and he played in 11 games with the Bills this season. Buffalo waived Morrow on Dec. 7, re-signed him on Dec. 24 and waived him again nine days later.

Each NFL team can elevate two members of its practice squad to active status for every game. Both the Eagles’ elevations for Sunday’s game are Alabama high school products.

Philadelphia also elevated fullback Khari Blasingame. The former Buckhorn High School standout played in three games in December for the Eagles after playing in two games earlier this season with the Chicago Bears.

The Rams and the Eagles square off at 2 p.m. CST Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. NBC will televise the game.
