2 restaurant chains planning Alabama expansions

The City of Muscle Shoals Friday announced two new restaurant chains are targeting locations at a mixed-use medical and restaurant development at 2411 Avalon Avenue.

The project, by McCoy Parker Investments, will feature an Uncle Maddio’s Pizza, scheduled to open in the spring, and Beignets & Brew to open later in the year, according to the city.

Atlanta-based Uncle Maddio’s Pizza offers customized pizzas, gluten-free and vegan options, hand-chopped salads, calzones, wings and desserts. The new Muscle Shoals location will feature an outdoor patio.

Jim Smith, CEO-president of Uncle Maddio’s Pizza, said Muscle Shoals is a community with a “family driven spirit, and we are excited to become a part of it.”

The Destin-based Beignets & Brew is planning on more than just Muscle Shoals. The chain already has a Gate 9 location in Huntsville, and plans new restaurants in Madison, Decatur and a second Huntsville location. The Madison location is slated to open in a month, while Decatur is planned for the first quarter of 2025.

The Arcadia location in Huntsville has a planned opening in the second quarter. There is also an Auburn location planned.

The café serves up New Orleans-style beignets and specialty coffee in a French bistro-inspired modern setting.

“We are excited to bring sweetness and a sense of community to more neighborhoods across Alabama,” said Bailey Lauren, vice president of Beignets & Brew. “Our mission is to create welcoming environments where locals can gather, connect, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.”
