Jax State offensive lineman, Oxford native Clay Webb accepts Senior Bowl invitation
Jacksonville State offensive lineman Clay Webb will head to Mobile for the Senior Bowl, game officials announced Thursday night.
Webb is the lone Jax State player to accept an invitation this season and sixth in program history; former Jax State offensive lineman was the last Gamecock to play in the Senior Bowl, when he participated in 2019.
Other past Jax State players to play in the Senior Bowl include defensive back Siran Neal (2018), running back Sean Richardson (1994), defensive lineman Jesse Baker (1979) and quarterback Dieter Brock (1974).
Webb played in 13 games for Jax State this season as the team’s starting left guard, earning first team All-Conference USA honors.
The 6-foot-3, 310-pound lineman paved the way for Conference USA MVP Tyler Huff at quarterback, who ran for 1,343 yards and 14 touchdowns and threw for 2,179 yards and 13 touchdowns, and running back Tre Stewart, who ran for 1,604 yards and 23 touchdowns this year.
Along with earning All-Conference USA honors in 2023, he was named an AP All-American and FBS Offensive Guard of the Year by College Football Network.
He played in 36 games across three seasons at Jax State.
Webb was a 5-star recruit out of Oxford High School and graded as the No. 1 recruit in the state, signing with Georgia out of high school over offers from Alabama, Clemson and Auburn.
An Oxford native, Webb will join South Alabama receiver Jamaal Pritchett (Jackson), Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard (Fairhope) and Alabama defensive back Malachi Moore (Trussville) as players from Alabama in this year’s edition of the annual college football all-star game and NFL draft showcase.
Additional Senior Bowl players will be announced periodically as game week approaches. A full list of accepted invitations is available by clicking HERE.
Kickoff for the 2025 Senior Bowl is set for 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 1, with television coverage on NFL Network Tickets are available at seniorbowl.com/tickets.
