Coffee shop employing people with intellectual, developmental disabilities coming to Birmingham
A North Carolina-based coffee chain which employs people with intellectual and developmental disabilities is coming to Birmingham.
Bitty & Beau’s Coffee will open a location at 1625 Oxmoor Rd. later this year, according to the company’s Facebook page.
The company, founded in 2016 in Wilmington, N.C., is the brainchild of a couple, Amy and Ben Wright. The store takes its name from their two children diagnosed with Down syndrome.
It now has 24 locations in 12 states and employs more than 400 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, according to the company.
The chain offers various flavors of hot and cold brew coffee, smoothies, and other drinks.
