Officials discovered a submerged car containing a dead person Thursday morning in south Alabama.

According to a post on X by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, a body was found in a submerged car in Chickasaw.

“Mobile County Sheriff’s Office assisting Chickasaw Police Department with dead body found in a car under water,” the post stated. “The car and body was discovered at Williams-Brooks Park, Craft Highway.”

A victim has not yet been identified as crews work to remove the car from the water.

A MCSO spokesperson said that more information would be available once the car is fully removed from the water and a proper investigation can commence.
