Florida’s Shemar James, Mobile native, headed to 2025 Senior Bowl

Former Florida linebacker Shemar James will return to his hometown for the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl, it was announced Tuesday.

James, a Faith Academy graduate, joins Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard of Fairhope as Coastal Alabama natives confirmed for this year’s Senior Bowl. The annual college football all-star game and NFL draft showcase takes place Feb. 1 at Hancock Whitney Stadium on the South Alabama campus.

The 6-foot-1, 229-pound James totaled 64 tackles, four tackles for loss and two sacks for the Gators in 2024. He played in 34 games in three seasons at Florida, totaling 165 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, five sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception.

James is a true junior, but the NFL opened up all-star games to underclassmen following the 2023 season. James declared for the draft on Jan. 26.

Additional Senior Bowl players will be announced periodically as game week approaches. A full list of accepted invitations is available by clicking HERE.

Kickoff for the 2025 Senior Bowl is set for 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 1, with television coverage on NFL Network Tickets are available at seniorbowl.com/tickets.
