Former Alabama tight end will transfer to Boston College: Reports
Another former Alabama football player is on his way to play for Bill O’Brien. Tight end Ty Lockwood will reportedly transfer to Boston College, where he’ll join the former Crimson Tide offensive coordinator and current Eagle head coach.
Pete Nakos of On3 was the first to report the news. Lockwood became the second Alabama transfer to land at Boston College this offseason, joining quarterback Dylan Lonergan.
Lockwood caught one pass for five yards during his two seasons in Alabama. That came in 2024, during the Crimson Tide’s win over Mercer.
He joined UA as a member of the 2023 recruiting class. Lockwood was a four-star prospect, and the 247Sports composite ranked him as the No. 12 tight end in the class, of of Independence High School in Tennessee.
Lockwood’s departure is the third loss from the tight end room for Alabama this offseason. Both CJ Dippre and Robbie Ouzts are out of eligibility, after taking most of the snaps for UA in 2024.
Meanwhile, Danny Lewis Jr. initially decided to enter the transfer portal, before opting to return to Tuscaloosa. Josh Cuevas is also returning for 2025.
The transfer portal is officially closed for undergraduate entry, at least as far as the Crimson Tide is concerned. After the normal post-regular season window, Alabama players got an extra five-day period to enter after the 2024 season came to an end with a ReliaQuest Bowl loss to Michigan.
