‘Such a good person:’ Mobile man dead after Saturday afternoon crash

A Mobile man is being mourned following a Saturday afternoon crash that killed him and left another person injured.

The incident happened at about 3:33 p.m., according to Fox10.

Officers responding to reports of an accident at the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Azalea Road discovered a vehicle crashed into a tree.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to a local hospital. The passenger, later identified as Michael Ficke, 37, was pronounced dead.

Police investigators say the vehicle was traveling in the eastbound lane when it left the roadway.

On social media, friends paid tribute to Ficke. Kayla Ann Miller wrote on Facebook that Ficke was “the coolest most welcoming and loving person ever.”

“You always had a smile on your face no matter what. You brighten everyone’s day. R. I. P my friend!” Miller wrote.

Josh Hall said he wished the two could play just one more round of golf.

“Man life is so short and can be gone in a matter of seconds,” Hall wrote. “Rest easy Mike Ficke! You were such a good person and so fun to be around.”
