Florida man who allegedly shot woman, ran her over several times captured in Spanish Fort

A Florida man suspected of killing a woman there by shooting her and running over her multiple times with a vehicle was captured in Alabama, authorities said Friday.

Charles Jerome Carson-Dowdy, 30, was wanted in connection with the death of the 30-year-old female victim in Escambia County, Florida, the sheriff’s office said.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shots fired call Thursday when they found the victim, whose name was not publicly released, with gunshot wounds.

The investigation showed that she had been shot and then run over with a vehicle several times, the sheriff’s office said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where she died of her injuries.

Deputies developed Carson-Dowdy as a suspect in the homicide.

He was found in Spanish Fort and charged with homicide, the sheriff’s office said.
