Teen arrested in New Year’s Day homicide in Bay Minette, police say
A teen has been arrested and charged for allegedly killing a man on New Year’s Day the Bay Minette Police Department announced Friday.
According to a department press release, Kendrick Johnson, 18, was charged with the murder of Ja’Tavious French, 20.
The police said that French was allegedly shot by Johnson after the two got into a physical altercation on Jan. 1 in the 1200 Block of Pecan Street.
French died after suffering a single gunshot wound.
Also, involved was a third individual associated with Johnson who is a suspect in the case.
BMPD also said that prior to the Jan. 1 shooting the three were allegedly involved in a physical altercation at a party on Dec. 31.
The incident is still being investigated and more arrests are expected to come according to the department.
