Beloved ’Star Wars’ actor dies at 77: ‘He left us peacefully’

Canadian actor Angus MacInnes, known for his role in Star Wars, was reported dead at the age of 77.

The MacInnes family shared the news with his fans through a Facebook post on Monday.

“Angus MacInnes, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and actor died on 23rd of December 2024. He left us peacefully, surrounded by his family and love,” the post states.

“For Angus, the fans of Star Wars held a special place in his heart. He loved meeting you at conventions, hearing your stories, and sharing in your passion for the saga. He was continually humbled, delighted, and honoured by the admiration and passion of the fans and convention community.”

Several fans extended their condolences to the family on the Facebook post, reminiscing on his career and who he was as a person.

“Was a treat meeting Angus. We had a joyful time with some cognac and cigars in London. Good memories. Lived a full life. My condolences to the families, friends and colleagues,” one comment states.

“I’m so sorry for your loss. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watch his work (most often Star Wars and Strange Brew). I just lost my Mom a few weeks ago, so I can sympathize with what you’re going through. Peace to you all,” another Facebook comment states.
