A pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a vehicle Thursday night while walking in a western Jefferson County roadway.

Douglas Lee Elliott, 63, was struck at 7:55 p.m. on Warrior River Road at Patton Road, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

Elliott, who lived in Hueytown, was pronounced dead on the scene at 8:21 p.m.

Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the driver of the vehicle stopped and called 911.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office worked the fatal crash.
