Lawsuit claims ‘witch hunt’ by Mobile mayor, top officials led to ex-chief’s dismissal and taxpayer losses
Mobile’s former police chief is accusing the city’s highest-ranking officials of disparaging him in the lead up and aftermath of his April 30 firing and for undertaking action that wasted over $200,000 in taxpayers’ money.
The 30-page civil lawsuit, filed on behalf of former Chief Paul Prine by Mobile attorneys Thomas Benton Jr. and James Dailey, also claims former U.S. Attorney Kenyen Brown – who investigated six use of force cases by the Mobile police department under Prine’s leadership – of running a “witch hunt” against the former chief initiated by Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson and Chief of Staff James Barber.
