A Huntsville man was arrested Tuesday on child sex charges.

Sgt. Rosalind White said Huntsville police Special Victim Unit investigators served a warrant for the arrest of William Cary Higginbotham, 47, for sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12, on Tuesday, Jan. 31.

The investigation began following an incident reported to police on Jan. 6. Higginbotham was released from the Madison County Jail on $10,000 bond, according to jail records.

No additional charges are expected at this time, White said.
