An investigation is underway after a deadly overnight shooting in eastern Jefferson County.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 11:50 p.m. Monday to a report of a person down in the 200 block of Polly Reed Road, said spokesman Henry Irby.

The arrived to find a man wounded by gunfire.

Center Point Fire and Rescue rushed the man to UAB Hospital. He later died.

Additional details have not been released, and no arrests have been made.
