The ‘Home Alone’ house is for sale for $5.25M: You won’t believe the interior now
The huge historic house that caught the eyes of two fictional burglars in the classic Christmas film “Home Alone” is for sale, giving someone “a rare opportunity to own one of the most iconic movie residences in American pop culture,” the listing says.
The home, listed for $5.25 million, is located in Winnetka, Ill., a suburb of Chicago. Thirty-four years after the film debuted, the home’s interior looks much different, but listing agent Katie Moor stresses that the most recognizable parts of the home shown in the film were preserved. That’s a plus because who wouldn’t want to walk up the iconic staircase where the paint can scene was filmed?

“Fully renovated and expanded in 2018, the current owners took the utmost care in maintaining the architectural detail and integrity of the home’s most memorable and recognizable spaces,” the listing said. “The gracious foyer and unforgettable entry staircase, as well as the formal living and dining room spaces, all remain largely unchanged in form and structure.”

Still, the fictional Kevin McAllister (portrayed by McCauley Culkin) never had access to two new luxuries in the home: A full basketball court with a regulation three-point line and a state-of-the-art home theater.
