Strong storms possible in part of Alabama on Thursday
There will be a chance for a few strong storms across part of south Alabama on Thursday. The rest of the state is in line to get a soaking rain.
NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has a Level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather in place for Thursday for the southeast part of Alabama.
A Level 1 or marginal risk means that isolated severe storms will be possible.
The National Weather Service said the primary threat will be damaging wind gusts, but a brief tornado isn’t out of the question, either.
There will be increased chances for storms from Thursday afternoon into Thursday night for southeast Alabama.
No severe weather is expected for the rest of Alabama, but Thursday will likely be soggy at times.
Rain is expected statewide, with some areas in central Alabama possibly getting up to a half-inch.

Drier and cooler weather is expected starting on Friday, and the weather service expects temperatures to warm some over the weekend and into the first part of next week.
