NFL team interviews Senior Bowl’s executive director for general-manager job
Jim Nagy followed Phil Savage as the executive director of the Reese’s Senior Bowl in 2018. Could he also follow Savage as general manager of the New York Jets?
Savage has served as the NFL team’s interim general manager since the Jets fired Joe Douglas on Nov. 19.
On Thursday afternoon, New York announced it had completed its interview with Nagy for its general-manager position.
The Senior Bowl’s current executive director is the third candidate the Jets have acknowledged interviewing for the position, following two former NFL general managers. Thomas Dimitroff worked as the Atlanta Falcons’ general manager from 2008 through 2020, and Jon Robinson worked as the Tennessee Titans’ general manager from 2016 through 2022.
Before taking the reins at Mobile’s annual all-star game, Nagy spent 18 seasons in the NFL as a scout with the Green Bay Packers, Washington Commanders, New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. In four seasons, his team won the Super Bowl.
The Jets have three games remaining in their 2024 season, which is the 14th in a row that New York will miss the playoffs – the longest active postseason drought in the NFL.
Douglas joined the Jets in 2019. He was fired six weeks after the Jets fired coach Robert Saleh, who had been hired by Douglas in 2021.

Nagy is one of the contributing “experts” for the 33rd Team, an NFL technology and media company. The Jets hired the 33rd Team “in a support role” in their general-manager search “to help identify and vet candidates.”
With a 4-10 record, New York plays the Los Angeles Rams at noon CST Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
The Reese’s Senior Bowl is set for 1:30 p.m. CST Feb. 1 at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile.
