South Alabama defensive end enters transfer portal
South Alabama defensive end Jordan Norman is entering the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on Wednesday.
Norman, a redshirt freshman from Hoover, started nine games for the Jaguars in 2024. He totaled 25 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks, including one in South Alabama’s 30-23 victory over Western Michigan in the Salute to Veterans Bowl last Saturday.
The 6-foot-4, 249-pound Norman started the first nine games of the season at Bandit defensive end for the Jaguars, but fellow redshirt freshman Tyler Thomas started the final three. South Alabama began the bowl game with both Courtney McBride and Aakil Washington — who are technically classified as outside linebackers — on the field as part of a four-man front, though both Norman and Thomas played extensively in the game.
Norman is the seventh South Alabama scholarship player to enter the transfer portal in this cycle and the second since the bowl game, along with running back Braylon McReynolds. Also having departed the team via the portal — which remains open through Dec. 28 — are running back Fluff Bothwell, kicker Laith Marjan and defensive backs Jordan Scruggs, Rickey Hyatt and Brian Dillard (only Marjan has thus far announced a destination, having committed to Kansas over the weekend).
South Alabama finished 7-6 in 2024, its third consecutive winning season.
