Auburn football linebackers coach Josh Aldridge has been named the defensive coordinator at East Carolina University.

After reports over the weekend, the university made things official Wednesday afternoon announcing Aldridge as a part of the Pirates staff.

Aldridge was named the linebackers coach at Auburn in 2022 after spending the previous four seasons at Liberty where he served as a defensive coach.

Under Aldridge tutelage, Auburn and Liberty ranked high amongst some of the nation’s best defense. in 2024 Auburn ranked top 20 in rush defense. The Tigers defense finished the season 31st.

Liberty finished the 2021 season ranked No. 6 in the country in passing yards allowed and No. 11 in total defense.

Prior to his time at Liberty, Aldridge coached at Lenoir-Rhyne during the 2018 season. The Bears posted a 12-2 record and ranked No. 1 in the country in turnovers caused and No. 9 in scoring defense.

Aldridge got his start serving as a recruiting coordinator at West Georgia from 2014-17.
