Former Jax State linebacker Reginald Hughes set to transfer to Colorado

Former Jacksonville State linebacker Reginald Hughes has signed with Colorado, his agent Hutton Reed told AL.com on Tuesday night.

The move comes after a visit he took this week; he had a visit to Kentucky lined up, but will head to Colorado. He announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 7.

Hughes also had offers from Mississippi State, Michigan State, Georgia Tech, Houston, Kentucky and Iowa State, but elected to play for Deion Sanders and Colorado.

Hughes finished his lone season with Jax State with 83 tackles (32 solo), 9.5 tackles for loss, six quarterback hurries and 4.5 sacks; he was named first-team All-Conference USA.

The Mississippi native ranked third among all Jax State players in total snaps (752) and led all defenders in quarterback pressures (29), according to Pro Football Focus.

Before coming to Jax State, Hughes spent two seasons with Ole Miss after transferring from Northeast Mississippi Community College.

He is the second former Jax State player to commit to a Power Four program out of the NCAA transfer portal, joining safety Zechariah Poyser who signed with Miami.
