Former Jax State safety Zechariah Poyser transferring to Miami

Former Jacksonville State defensive back Zechariah Poyser has committed to Miami, he announced on social media Tuesday.

Posyer, a native of Wildwood, Florida, announced his intentions to enter the NCAA transfer portal on Dec. 8.

He also lined up visits to LSU, Auburn and Florida.

Poyser was rated as a 4-star transfer prospect by 247Sports and listed as the No. 2 transfer safety prospect behind Dillon Thieneman, who transferred from Purdue to Oregon.

The defensive back was named to the All-Conference USA freshman team this season, totaling 75 tackles (74 solo), eight pass breakups, three interceptions, 2.5 tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries for the Gamecocks.

Pro Football Focus graded him as the No. 2 defensive player for Jax State this season (79.9) behind fellow defensive back Antonio Carter II.
