Troy standout Devonte Ross enters transfer portal

Troy wide receiver Devonte Ross has entered the NCAA transfer portal, AL.com has confirmed.

Ross, a redshirt sophomore with two seasons of eligibility remaining, was a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference pick as both a wide receiver and all-purpose back in 2024, and a second-team selection as a return specialist. He led the Sun Belt in touchdown receptions (11) and all-purpose yards (1,445) and ranked second in receptions (76) and yards (1,043), while averaging 14 yards per punt return — including a 77-yard touchdown vs. Iowa.

A Cartersville, Ga., native, Ross excelled for a Troy team that went 4-8 in 2024 and had quarterback injury issues all year. The Trojans started three different players behind center, with No. 1 QB Goose Crowder suffering a season-ending injury in September.

Ross is one of two Troy starters to enter the portal, which remains open until Dec. 28. Safety Ian Conerly-Goodly also announced plans to explore a transfer last week.
