Alabama player reactions after SMU makes CFP over Tide

A few Alabama football players took to social media in the minutes and hours after the College Football Playoff committee revealed it had left Alabama out of the playoff.

None of the players directly addressed the CFP by name, but not much reading between the lines was required considering the timing. The message was received.

“Man,” linebacker Jihaad Campbell posted to X shortly after the CFP rankings reveal.

Then captain/safety Malachi Moore and punter James Burnip added their thoughts via emoji.

The CFP committee released their final CFP rankings Sunday morning, and Alabama was on the outside looking in. The Crimson Tide was the first team out of the playoffs, and SMU got the final at-large spot with the No. 11 seed.

The Crimson Tide was ranked No. 11, but because of automatic qualifiers as a result of teams winning conference championships, SMU ended up being the last team in as an at-large bid, ranked No. 10.

Alabama will now turn its attention to building the roster for 2025. The transfer portal will open up Monday. The Crimson Tide will also begin preparations for its bowl game.

This story will be updated if/when additional player reactions occur.
