Texas’ Steve Sarkisian takes shot at refs in awkward moment with Laura Rutledge

Steve Sarkisian wasn’t happy Saturday with the officials working the SEC Championship Game between Texas and Georgia.

And the Longhorns coach let the college-football watching world know about it at halftime after his team held a 6-3 lead.

During an interview with Laura Rutledge on ABC, Sark was short and blunt with his response.

“Coach, eight penalties in this first half,” Rutledge started, “How do you get your team to clean some of that up.”

“Well,” Sarkisian snapped, “Hopefully, they call them for a holding one of these times, too.”

There was a brief moment of silence, which turned awkward, before Rutledge pitched it to Holly Rowe, who was waiting with Georgia’s Kirby Smart.

The Longhorns were flagged eight times for 80 yards in the first half, compared to just two penalties for the Bulldogs for 19 yards.

“If they can clean that up, man, they can run away with this game in the second half,” “GameDay analyst Desmond Howard said at halftime of the game.

Texas had two interceptions nullified by penalties in the second half.
