Own a glass Pyrex measuring cup? You could be getting settlement money
If you look in your kitchen cabinet, chances are you will find a glass Pyrex measuring cup. They are pretty much a staple in any home, almost as common as a dish or spoon.
If you do have one, you could be in line for a refund related to a recent settlement, according to the Federal Trade Commission.
The FTC is sending more than $88,000 in refunds to consumers who bought Chinese-made measuring cups marketed as “Made in the USA” by Instant Brands, maker of Pyrex-brand kitchen and home products. The settlement comes after the FTC took action against Instant Brands in 2023 charging the company claimed some of its popular glass measuring cups were made in the U.S. despite the fact they were imported from China – more than 110,000 units in all, according to federal officials.
Instant Brands agreed to a settlement with the FTC that stopped the company from making deceptive claims about products being “Made in USA” and required them to pay a monetary judgment.
Almost 10,300 consumers are due refunds from the settlement. The settlement covers customers who bought Pyrex glass measuring cups imported from China between March 2021 and May 2022 and people should receive their payments directly. Any payment checks should be cashed within 90 days.
Consumers who have questions should contact the refund administrator, Simpluris, at 833-244-7320.
