Nick Saban has warning for Texas A&M: Jordan-Hare Stadium ‘is haunted’
Texas A&M is a slight favorite in its game Saturday night at Auburn, but point spreads don’t often matter at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
The Tigers have one of the top homefield advantages in college football, and former Alabama coach Nick Saban is all too familiar. During Saturday’s edition of ESPN College Game Day, Saban had a warning for the Aggies.
“I would be alerting Texas A&M,” Saban said. “In my opinion, in 17 years of playing in Jordan-Hare, that place is haunted. The way we lost games there, the way we won games, it’s unbelievable. The Kick Six, and then ‘Gravedigger’ last year, I’m telling you, the place is haunted.”
Here’s video:
Saban went 5-4 in nine trips to Jordan-Hare, winning in 2009, 2011, 2015, 2021 and 2023. His Crimson Tide teams lost at Auburn in 2007, 2013, 2017 and 2019 — losing as a betting favorite the last three of those times.
However, even in the wins, Alabama often needed miracle finishes to get past the Tigers. An undefeated Crimson Tide team scored in the final minute to win 26-21 in 2009, then needed four overtimes to win 24-22 in 2021 and a 4th-and-31 conversion for a 27-24 victory last year — the latter two preserving SEC championship and College Football Playoff runs.
Texas A&M is 8-2 overall and 5-1 in the SEC heading into Saturday’s 6:30 p.m. kickoff on ESPN. Auburn is 4-6 and 2-4.
Still, watch out, Aggies.
