‘Kind and humble’ Jasper man shot in neck, allegedly by wife, needs help with medical costs, friends say
Friends of a man shot and seriously injured in Jasper five days ago are asking for help to support his recovery.
Timothy Cannon, 31, remains on a ventilator at UAB Hospital after the Sunday shooting.
His wife, 26-year-old Kourtney Grace Duggins, is charged with attempted murder.
The shooting happened about 2 p.m. Sunday in the area of 714 Highway 78 in Jasper.
Officer arrived to find Cannon wounded. He told them his wife shot him and then fled.
Charging documents against Duggins state Cannon was shot in the neck with a handgun.
Duggins remains held in the Walker County Jail on $50,000 bond.
Brandi and John Sanders, friends of Cannon, said Cannon has a long road to recovery and have started a GoFundMe to help with his needs.
Cannon, they said on the fundraising site, is a “kind and humble man that has been through so much recently.”
“Tim, who is disabled, was the victim of a terrible tragedy when his wife tried to take his life,’’ Brandi Sanders wrote.
Cannon underwent throat surgery earlier this week.
“We’ve known Tim since he was little,’’ Brandi Sanders said. “He has always been such a sweet and humble person to everyone.”
“Right now, he has nobody to help him get back up on his feet, so we are asking for help on his behalf,’’ she said. “If you can help in any way—whether it’s through prayers, support, or donations—it would mean so much to him and us.”
