Alabama A&M lineman Carson Vinson headed to 2025 Senior Bowl
Alabama A&M offensive tackle Carson Vinson has accepted his invitation to play in the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl, it was announced Friday.
The 6-foot-6, 305-pound Vinson becomes the first Bulldogs player since fellow offensive lineman Kendrick Rogers in 2001 — and just the third ever — to participate in the annual college football all-star game and NFL draft showcase, set for Feb. 1 in Mobile. Pro Football Hall of Famer John Stallworth, who won four Super Bowls with the Pittsburgh Steelers, played in the 1974 Senior Bowl.
“A&M’s slogan is ‘Start Here, Go Anywhere,’” Vinson told Alabama A&M spokesman Brian Howard. “… I’ve always been told that the [NFL], wherever you are, they’ll find you. I just want to show my teammates that if you work hard and you put in the work, they’ll find you. And you can have all your dreams here.”
Vinson is also the first player from an HBCU program chosen for the 2025 Senior Bowl, and the first since Jackson State linebacker Aubrey Miller in 2022. Alabama State’s Tytus Howard, also an offensive lineman, played in the 2019 Senior Bowl and was later a first-round pick by the Houston Texans.
Stallworth was on-hand this week to present Vinson with his official Senior Bowl invitation, along with Alabama A&M head coach Connell Maynor and Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy. Vinson — whose Bulldogs are 5-5 heading into Saturday’s game at Mississippi Valley State — officially accepted his invitation on Friday morning.
Vinson is the fourth player with state of Alabama ties confirmed for this year’s Senior Bowl, along with Alabama punter James Burnip, Ohio State center Seth McLaughlin (an Alabama transfer) and Oregon wide receiver Tez Johnson (a former Pinson Valley High School standout and Troy transfer). However, McLaughlin suffered a season-ending injury earlier this week and is unlikely to play in the Senior Bowl.
More Senior Bowl roster additions will be announced in the days and weeks leading up to the game, which takes place at Hancock Whitney Stadium on the South Alabama campus. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 1, with television coverage by NFL Network.
