Year-over-year home sale prices in or around Huntsville fell slightly in October, with only one area showing slight gains.

Prices declined from October 2023 by about 4% in both Huntsville-Madison County and in Athens, according to the latest data from the Huntsville Area Association of Realtors. A year ago, Athens led the region with an average home sale price of $397,000, with Huntsville just behind at $391,000. Last month, they averaged $380,000 and $373,000, respectively.

Only Decatur posted a year-over-year gain — a modest 1% — from $270,000 to $273,000.
