Alabama community college and medical center receive $1.5 million donation
The estate of a late college professor from Alabama has donated more than $1.5 million to a community college and hospital system in Marshall County.
Snead State Community College and Marshall Medical Centers each received $793,000, according to a news release from the school.
Bobbie Glassco was a professor and administrator at Snead State and served on the board of directors of the Marshall County Health Care Authority. She and her husband, Truman, organized the Alabama School of Gospel Music at Snead State in 1987. Snead hosted 100 students at its recent gospel event.
“They were generous with time and talents to provide help in any needed situation,” said the Glassco family in a news release. “They took the talents God gave and multiplied them greatly to help others. Countless individuals will benefit from the generosity of Truman and Bobbie Glassco.”
The school plans to use the gift for scholarships and campus upgrades.
Truman Glasco passed away in 2004 and Bobbie Glasco died last year.
