Williamson beats Northside, earns 6th shutout of the season
Alvin Dinkins finished 9-for-12 for 137 yards and two touchdown passes, two 2-point conversions and ran for a TD to lead Williamson (10-1) to 46-0 victory over the Northside Rams (8-3) in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs at Mobile’s Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
Williamson won its first playoff game since a 27-7 win over Bibb County in 2007. The Lions had lost its last seven playoff games.
“The bye-week at the end of the season really paid off big-time for us. We got a chance to rest some kids and work on some of the small things that have been hurting us all season,” Williamson coach Antonio said. “The biggest thing was to get some kids healthy and come out and play the best eleven and put the ball in the playmakers’ hands.”
