Here’s a vote for democracy over oligarchy as SEC football speeds toward chaos
There has been an avalanche of conclusions drawn to make sense of the events of the last 48 hours in this country. I lean toward a personal version of chaos theory. Simply stated, it is the firm belief that America loves chaos.
For that reason, a majority of Americans should embrace the final month of the college football season as it speeds toward the inaugural 12-team playoff. The next four regular-season weekends seem certain to feed us a steady diet of didn’t-see-that-coming calamity with side orders of clean, old-fashioned hate and messy, newfangled math.
The landscape is most pregnant with full-goose-bozo possibilities here in our own boisterous backyard, where the SEC has positioned itself for a November more memorable than 2013. That month remains the gold standard of immortal incredulity, when Auburn gave us, in a 15-day span, the Prayer in Jordan-Hare and the Kick Six.
