A 59-year-old man was killed in a Friday crash in west Birmingham, authorities announced Monday.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the victim, from Indonesia, listed a work visa address from Arkansas.

The wreck happened at 11:48 a.m. Friday in the 1500 block of Bankhead Highway.

Yates said the victim’s vehicle crossed over into the opposing traffic lane and struck another vehicle.

He was pronounced dead on the scene at 12:24 p.m.

Birmingham police are investigating.
