Famous comedian, known for jabs at Trump, dead at 63

Scottish comedian Janey Godley, 63, has died of ovarian cancer, according to Deadline.

Godley became known around the world for holding up a sign in front of former President Donald Trump’s Turnberry Golf Resort that said, “Trump is a c—” in 2016 before he was elected.

She went viral again in October for sharing a picture of herself, in her bed and intubated, holding a T-shirt that said, “Trump is still a c—.”

Godley also supported the transgender rights movement.

Godley’s family announced her death, Deadline news reports. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2021. In September she shared that her “chemo ran out of options.”

A longtime favorite in her native Scotland, Godley often engaged in political humor during her career. During the pandemic, she posted videos spoofing Scotland’s political leader Nicola Sturgeon’s COVID-19 announcements.

Godley even worked her illness into her standup routine. During a BBC documentary called “Janey,” Godley spoke about coming to terms with death.

“I don’t know how I’ll feel…I don’t know what dying is,” she said. “The great thing is nobody knows what’s there, so it’s not like I can take a TripAdvisor recommendation, because nobody knows what it is because nobody’s come back to tell us. So that’ll be the end.”

Early in her career, she appeared at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival where she was Best Show Concept. She also appeared on television shows like “River City,” “Sam Delaney’s News Thing,” “The Alex Salmond Show,” “Have I Got News for You” and “Traces.”

She wrote three books, including 2022′s “Nothing Left Unsaid.”
