Innocent bystander shot in south Alabama bar seeks help with extensive medical bills

A man who police say was an innocent bystander shot in a Mobile bar is seeking help to pay his medical bills.

A GoFundMe has been created to support Cody Goff, who was shot on Sunday.

At Hayley’s Bar, the alleged shooter, Michael Sullivan, got into an argument with a woman and is alleged to have attempted to shoot someone. Police said Sullivan shot Goff instead shot of his intended target.

Sullivan was arrested.

As a result of the shooting, Goff has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. According to the GoFundMe organized by Cody’s sister, Candice Goff, he has already endured two major surgeries.

One surgery led to the removal of a foot and a half of both his large and small intestines and the other surgery was to tie off his iliac vein due to it receiving severe damage.

“I know this GoFundMe will only scratch the surface of what his medical bills will be,” Candice wrote, “but we’re hoping it can help get him through the next few months as we try to figure out what’s next. Cody doesn’t have insurance, and we don’t know when or if he’ll be able to return to work.”

Cody is also still within a window for infection or sepsis, but he has shown great progress and resilience according to his sister.

As of this publication, they have raised over $7,500 out of their goal of $30,000.
