Near-record highs possible Friday and Saturday
It’s definitely fall, but some summer-like heat will revisit Alabama to end the week.
The National Weather Service is expecting above-average temperatures for the next few days, and especially on Friday and Saturday, when highs could climb to near record levels.
No rain is expected, either, and Alabama’s rain-free streak could continue for at least another week.
Here’s the seven-day precipitation outlook from NOAA’s Weather Prediction Center, and it suggest Alabama will not see a drop of rain through the end of the month:

The weather service is forecasting high temperatures to end up in the low to mid-80s today:

Heat levels are expected to climb into the mid-80s across a wide area on Friday (Friday’s highs are shown at the top of this post).
Some areas could indeed come close to record territory if forecasts verify. Here are some of the record highs for Oct. 25 (Friday):
* Birmingham: 88 degrees in 1927
* Dothan: 89 degrees in 2010
* Huntsville: 87 degrees in 1927
* Mobile: 88 degrees in 1927
* Montgomery: 88 degrees in 2016
* Muscle Shoals: 86 degrees in 1915
* Troy: 90 degrees in 1936
* Tuscaloosa: 86 degrees in 2016

Sunday is expected to bring a return of fall. The weather service expects a dry cold front to move through, with some more seasonable arriving in its wake.

However, some warmer temperatures may hang around for a while. The six- to 10-day temperature outlook from NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center shows higher probabilities for more above-average temperatures through the end of October:
