Baldwin County woman charged after starved puppies abandoned without water die
A woman was charged with four counts of felony animal cruelty this week in Baldwin County, according to the sheriff’s office.
On October 7, 2024, deputies with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office received a call for service regarding five dogs being abandoned at a residence in the Marlow community of Baldwin County, according to a recent release.
“With the assistance of personnel from the Baldwin County Animal Shelter, deputies located five abandoned dogs, including four puppies left in a kennel with no food or water,” the release reads.
“Due to being neglected and abandoned without food or water for several days, the puppies passed away.”
Through the course of investigation, it was determined that Ashley Miller, 38, was the sole owner of the dogs.
She was arrested by patrol officers on Oct. 21 on unrelated charges and admitted to the neglect of the dogs, the release says.
She is being held on the animal cruelty charges as well as possession of a controlled substance and failure to appear.
