Data ranks Huntsville fifth in the state for fatal car crashes
Huntsville ranks fifth in Alabama for deadly car crashes according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
In 2022, 26 fatal car accidents occurred in Huntsville, a 6.3% increase from 2021 (24). Six pedestrians were harmed in the accidents, seven of which involved other motor vehicles, while the other accidents involved stationary objects. Alabama had 988 traffic fatalities in 2022, up from 986 the previous year. The NHTSA has not yet released data for 2023.
