A pedestrian was fatally struck Tuesday on Interstate 65 in Birmingham.

Birmingham police and firefighters were dispatched about 3 a.m. to I-65 northbound in downtown. The location was near Third Avenue South.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene, according to BFRS.  The identity of the victim has not yet been determined.

Traffic was diverted but has resumed to normal flow.
