54-year-old woman killed in north Jefferson County house fire

A woman killed when fire swept through a northern Jefferson County home earlier this week has now been identified.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office Thursday identified the victim as Kimberly Lynn Brownlow. She was 54 and lived in Birmingham.

Forestdale Fire and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the house fire at 6:05 a.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of Crumley Chapel.

Once the blaze was extinguished, they found victim inside. Brownlow was pronounced dead at 7:22 a.m.

A second person was able to escape unharmed.

The Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
