8 guns, drugs seized in search of Birmingham home; 4 charged

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests Tuesday and identified the suspects as Curtis Deangelo Pelt, 33, Caroline Elizabeth Medley, 46, Savannah Tyler Dagenais, 32, and Giovanni Austin, 43.

Sheriff’s drug investigators and the U.S. Marshals Service on Oct. 11 went to a residence in the 200 block of 67th Place North to serve an arrest warrant. Once there, said spokesman Henry Irby, they established probable cause for a search warrant of the home.

“Detectives located numerous items connected to illegal narcotic sales and drug trafficking,’’ Irby said.

Law enforcement officers confiscated eight guns, 48 grams of crack cocaine, and an undisclosed amount of marijuana, Tramadol and methamphetamine.

Pelt is charged with drug trafficking and has been released from the Jefferson County Jail after posting $100,000 bond.

Medley is charged with second-degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of felony failure to appear. She remains jailed without bond.

Dagenais is charged with drug trafficking. Jail records list her bond at $100,000.

The suspect has been charged with Drug Trafficking, with no bond. The suspect is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.

Austin is charged with misdemeanor failure to appear. He remains held without bond.
