North Alabama man faces child porn possession charges

A Mentone man is facing 10 counts of child pornography possession after his arrest last week.

DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said Logan Ryan Jackson, 36, possessed “numerous” videos and images of children engaged in sex acts.

The arrest came after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding the potential upload of child sexual abuse material to an online search service from a location near Mentone.

Investigators executed a search warrant last week at Jackson’s residence, Welden said. Several electronic devices were confiscated, and the investigation remains ongoing with additional charges pending.

The Alabama Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force also assisted in the investigation.

Welden said there is currently no indication that Jackson was involved in the production of any videos or images, and authorities do not believe that any children from the community were harmed or abused.

“It is crucial to recognize that every instance of child pornography being viewed or disseminated results in further victimization of the child involved,” Welden said. “Our office is committed to addressing this type of crime and offenders will face charges to the fullest extent of the law.”
