Top-ranked Class 6A Montgomery Academy heads into postseason play this week after finishing 45-3 with an 8-0 week and a championship in the Shrimp Fest Tournament at Gulf Shores.

The Eagles beat No. 3 Spanish Fort in the finals of the tournament, 25-23, 25-19. In pool play, Montgomery Academy beat 5A No. 10 Lawrence County, Faith Academy and 5A No. 8 Sylacauga, all in two sets. In the Gold Bracket, the Eagles beat 5A No. 9 Briarwood Christian, 3A No. 1 Mobile Christian and 5A No. 1 Trinity before topping Spanish Fort. All the wins were in two sets.
