96-year-old woman killed in head-on, multi-vehicle crash on I-65 in Cullman County

A 96-year-old woman was killed in a multi-vehicle, head-on crash Sunday night in Cullman County.

Alabama State Troopers identified the fatality victim as Ruth C. Graves. She lived in Bremen.

The wreck happened at 10:09 p.m. on Interstate 65, about three miles south of Cullman.

Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey said Graves was driving a 1997 Ford F-150 that collided head on with a Chevrolet Silverado driving by 30-year-old Hunter R. Mims of Northport.

After the initial collision, Bailey said, Graves’ pickup struck a Honda Accord driven by Samuel S. Adkins, 21, of Madison.

The Honda then struck a Dodge Charger driven by 21-year-old Javon T. Young of Birmingham.

Bailey said Graves was not using her seatbelt at the time of the crash. She was taken to Cullman Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation by troopers.
