9-year-old boy struck in hit-and-run while walking to Birmingham school
An investigation is underway after a child was struck in a hit-and-run in Birmingham.
The crash happened at 7:44 a.m. Wednesday on Pike Road and Avenue T in Ensley.
Officer Truman Fitzgerald said the Minor Elementary School student was walking in the crosswalk when he was struck.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service said the child was taken for treatment by private vehicle, not transported by BFRS. He sustained minor injuries.
Fitzgerald said the police department’s Real Time Crime Center is assisting in the investigation.
