Summer isn’t over, even if Alabama kids have gone back to school. The season actually lasts about six more weeks — Sept. 23 is the first official day of fall — and plenty of summer events are still scheduled in Birmingham. ALABAMA RUM FEST

When: Aug. 13, 2 p.m.-6 p.m.

Where: The Denham Building, 1143 First Ave. South, Birmingham.

What to expect: More than 50 rums to sample, plus cocktails, food trucks, music and charity auction.
