9 August festivals to make summer last in Birmingham
Summer isn’t over, even if Alabama kids have gone back to school. The season actually lasts about six more weeks — Sept. 23 is the first official day of fall — and plenty of summer events are still scheduled in Birmingham. Here are nine August festivals you won’t want to miss, offering everything from fresh mimosas to indie movies.
ALABAMA RUM FEST
When: Aug. 13, 2 p.m.-6 p.m.
Where: The Denham Building, 1143 First Ave. South, Birmingham.
What to expect: More than 50 rums to sample, plus cocktails, food trucks, music and charity auction.
