An 88-year-old woman was killed and a 23-year-old man was injured Tuesday following a crash in Anniston, authorities said.

Anniston police responded to the crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of General Gerald Watson Way and Veterans Memorial Parkway, said Lt. Matt Caballero.

The 88-year-old woman, who was driving one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead at the scene, Caballero said.

Her name was not publicly released pending family notification.

The other driver, a 23-year-old man, was taken to Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center for treatment. As of Tuesday night, he was listed in stable condition.

The incident remained under investigation as of Tuesday night.
